As someone who has had the opportunity and privilege to be around music in multiple ways over the last 6 years I am both humbled and amazed by the power music has. Not only can it gather people in a way that few other resources can, but it can stir up a deep emotional connection that fails to be duplicated by any other medium. Music can convey a message with a few carefully placed melodies and lyrics that would otherwise require an entire book to do so accurately. The bottom line is music has power. It has the power to bypass our cynical thoughts, natural inhibitions, carefully placed emotional walls, and any other safeguards we have developed over the years toward ideas that are not our own.
It's because of this power I have personally experienced that I am so passionate to share this blog with others. If we could truly understand and respect the power that music has they're would not be a person alive that would not be eager to constantly discover new music. Music is one of the most influential tools on the planet. This means musicians have the potential to influence an incredible amount of people. Will you?

First Blog - Music Reviews
The purpose of this blog is to inform you of new music, artists, musical developments, and my opinion on their quality and effectiveness. One way of doing this will be through an "Artist Spotlight" like this one:
WhiteFlagWarrior from Flobotics on Vimeo.
The Flobots are an underground rock/rap group from Denver, Colorado and in my opinion are one the most under rated musical acts of our generation. Their songs are not only ridiculously catchy (which you can discover for yourself by clicking here) but they serve a purpose. In a world where most music exists solely for entertainment purposes Flobot's have a definite agenda. It doesn't take long after listening to their music to realize that it has actual substance. The Flobots' music demands change. Change in human ideals, in our implementation of religion, and in the way our government acts. Their latest single is a call for peace. The hook of"White Flag Warrior"declares "We'd rather make our children martyrs than murderers." No matter how you personally feel about the state of our government or the war currently being fought, I hope you can at least respect a group of individuals that are making music with a purpose. If you can't find any respect for the message then just focus on the music. The band primarily consists of a basic set up. A drummer, bassist, guitarist, vocals, and viola which really gives their music a distinct presence, but aside from that they also incorporate brass, woodwinds, and other instruments from time to time. It's refreshing to hear a band that actually creates music instead of putting a boring auto-tuned melody over a recycled hip-hop beat.
