As someone who has had the opportunity and privilege to be around music in multiple ways over the last 6 years I am both humbled and amazed by the power music has. Not only can it gather people in a way that few other resources can, but it can stir up a deep emotional connection that fails to be duplicated by any other medium. Music can convey a message with a few carefully placed melodies and lyrics that would otherwise require an entire book to do so accurately. The bottom line is music has power. It has the power to bypass our cynical thoughts, natural inhibitions, carefully placed emotional walls, and any other safeguards we have developed over the years toward ideas that are not our own.
It's because of this power I have personally experienced that I am so passionate to share this blog with others. If we could truly understand and respect the power that music has they're would not be a person alive that would not be eager to constantly discover new music. Music is one of the most influential tools on the planet. This means musicians have the potential to influence an incredible amount of people. Will you?
Hey Robin,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading your blog entry! I think it was very inspirational and you used the technique of making it personal to interest your blog readers/followers. After reading the Johnny Cupcakes blog, I realized that it is essential to make a personal connection to your readers/followers. Music really is something people can connect to emotionally. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I wish you all the best.
Here's a quote I really like and find is very true!
Where words fail, music speaks.

Robin,
ReplyDeleteI could not agree with your post more. The influence music has over its listeners is amazing. People not only listen to music for entertainment purposes but also to change their mood. Music can be used to pump people up and get them excited, it can also be used to set a somber mood. Music also has the power to be depressing. I know as I look back through my life so far there are many songs that have both lifted my spirits and bummed me out. One example of this is fact that I have related songs to events in my life. One tragic event that I have related a song to is when my cousin was killed in a car accident. Every time the song plays the accident is the very first thing that comes to my mind.
Great Job!
